Recorder All Stars
2-hour workshop, including tour of house
£4.00 per student
What do Henry VIII, Hamlet and Samuel Pepys have in common? They all played the recorder! Throughout the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries the recorder was a major instrument, and composers like Handel were inspired to write lots of recorder repertoire. Working with a professional recorder player, this workshop offers students the opportunity to explore the history of this superstar instrument, especially in the context of the 18th century. This will lead to a practical session focusing on simple adaptations of Handel's music for recorders. An ideal session for school recorder groups.
