What Messiah Means to Me
Questions like these will form the basis of a new Handel House project, "What Messiah means to me" in the lead-up to Easter 2005, when the piece is traditionally sung.
Come and share your experiences of listening to and performing the work. We are building up a bank of thoughts, memories and first impressions of this great piece, culminating in a CD compilation which will be available for visitors to listen to as part of a special display. In addition to contributions from the general public, we are hoping to interview leading performers of Handel.
We also have a varied programme of events including running alongside the project, which will include a lecture by Professor Donald Burrows, a series of Thursday Live concerts in March which will focus on the different solo arias from Messiah, to be performed by young rising stars in the Baroque music world, and a day of participatory singing workshops exploring the history and legacy of Messiah.
To find out more about this project, please call Jane Cockcroft, Education Manager, on 020 7399 1967. Alternatively, just pop along to Handel House on any Saturday in March, or come along to one of our special Messiah to share your experiences with us.
