'Handel & the Castrati' Exhibition Commended at the Museums and Heritage Awards for Excellence
Bernard Donoghue, chairman of the judges said that the standard of entries was incredibly high, with hundreds of entries received across ten categories. These were whittled down to a shortlist of up to five projects in each. Categories for the 2007 Museums & Heritage Awards for Excellence included awards for: Educational Initiative, Project on a Limited Budget, Permanent Exhibition and Temporary or Touring Exhibition.
Sarah Bardwell, Director of Handel House said, "We're delighted to have been commended for our very successful exhibition. As a small museum, it is always important for our work to be recognised amongst the work of the larger museums. In addition, this commendation will raise the Museum's profile as a valuable contribution to England's cultural heritage."
Created by The Museums & Heritage Show, and supported by Heritage365 magazine, the Awards recognise and celebrate best practice within museums, galleries and heritage visitor attractions. The Awards were judged by a panel of industry professionals, including: Sam Mullins, Director of London Transport Museum; Bernard Donoghue, Head of Government and Public Affairs at VisitBritain, Phil Reed, Director of The Churchill Museum and Greg Chamberlain, Editor of New Heritage Magazine.
